Robert Pasnau is College Professor of Distinction at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research extends widely over the history of philosophy, and is especially focused on the transition from medieval to modern philosophy. His main current project is a book on the rising importance of the will in the later Middle Ages, and the way this so-called “voluntarist” movement shaped our modern understanding of free will, moral responsibility, and human nature.
