My research is in epistemology and formal epistemology. I am particularly interested in the nature and norms of reasoning, and the ways in which human reasoners manage their cognitive limitations. My current research project, which comprises a monograph and several articles, investigates the attitudes reasoners form while their deliberation is ongoing, before they have arrived at a conclusion. I argue that these ‘transitional’ attitudes differ in their functional roles from attitudes that serve as conclusions of reasoning, and that they are governed by distinct epistemic norms. During my stay in Berlin, I hope to finish at least two articles that are part of this project.
