Ancient philosophy, philosophy of mind, perception
Robert Roreitner (PhD HU Berlin) is an Assistant Professor in Philosophy at Charles University, Prague. He works primarily on issues regarding soul, perception and thought in ancient philosophy. He focuses on Aristotle and ancient discussions between Aristotelianism and Platonism. He is the author of Aristotle on the Nature and Causes of Perception (CUP 2025) and a co-author of Aristotle on the Essence of Human Thought (OUP 2024). At the centre, he will be working on Aristotelian accounts of rationality, and especially on how rationality influences lower capacities, primarily the perceptive capacity. A part of the project is to develop a philosophically more attractive interpretation of "incidental perception".
