Early modern political thought and philosophy of mind (Thomas Hobbes in particular), political psychology (imagination and reason of state in particular)
I hold a PhD from the University of Copenhagen on the political thought and philosophy of mind of Thomas Hobbes. The last two years, I have been a member of the Oxford Centre for Intellectual History where I have been working on reason of state-theory and its psychological underpinnings. I have a specific interest in early modern theories of the imagination, its late-Scholastic background and relation to theories of government. Thanks to generous support from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the next two years I will be exploring the concept of the imagination in Jesuit De Anima-commentaries from the late 16th and early 17th century. I have strong interests in art history, cultural and political history and strive to adopt a broad approach to the study of early modern philosophy.
