Philosophy of mind, philosophy of action, philosophy of sociality
I am CNRS Research Director at Institut Jean Nicod in Paris. My research is in philosophy of mind, philosophy of action and social philosophy. I am particularly interested in the nature of the processes and representations supporting individual and joint action as well as in the sense of agency. My current project on actions, goals and emotions investigates the nature of goal-directed actions and the extent to which emotional actions can be considered goal-directed. I argue that that the notion of goal-directedness is used in several, sometimes conflicting, ways in the philosophical and empirical literatures, that different kinds of emotional actions should be distinguished and that whether or not emotional actions count as goal-directed depends both on the kind of emotional action considered and on the notion of goal-directedness at stake. During my stay in Berlin, I hope to finish at least two articles that are part of this project.
